Online Labs (OLabs) for School Lab Experiments – Interactive Simulations

The Online Labs is an educational initiative pioneered by AmritaCREATE, the Amrita Center for Research in Analytics, Technologies & Education at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in partnership with CDAC, Mumbai; under a research grant from the Department of Information Technology, Government of India.

OLabs offers high-quality online labs for Science, Maths, and English. The labs designed for classes 9 to 12 are aligned with the NCERT and SCERT. An offline version is available for use. Currently, it is available in five languages: Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, and Tamil.

Students can access over 170 interactive simulations online anytime, anywhere. OLabs can be used to supplement physical lab experiments with quick access to theory encouraging self-directed learning. Users can explore, perform experiments, and repeat them at their own pace. Additionally, the videos are available on YouTube.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, as schools went online, students could not access physical labs. The online version of the labs for various classes and subjects served as a resource widely used by students across the country. OLabs is a feasible option that makes labs accessible to students. OLabs is hosted at www.OLabs.edu.in
